Exterran CEO Brad Childers Recognized by The National Safety Council

January 26, 2015

HOUSTON, Jan. 26, 2015 – Exterran today announced that its President and CEO, Brad Childers, has been recognized by the National Safety Council as one of the country’s 2015 CEOs Who “Get It,” its annual celebration of leaders who demonstrate world-class safety. According to Deborah A.P. Hersman, President and CEO of the National Safety Council, Childers is among a select group identified as being “dedicated to safety for the long haul and committed to continuous improvement for both their organization and themselves.”

“At Exterran, we believe that nothing is more important than safety – both on the job and away from it – and that is why excellence in safety is a core value at Exterran,” said Childers.

“I want to congratulate our employees around the world who are committed to maintaining a safe workplace, and I am honored to accept this recognition on their behalf,” he added. “In 2014, our safety performance levels were very close to those of the best-performing companies in the oil and gas services industry. Nonetheless, we will not be fully satisfied until we reach our on-the-job HSE goal, which is zero: zero incidents, zero accidents, zero injuries and zero environmental incidents.”

This year’s roster of nine individuals represents national and multinational organizations of all varieties and sizes. Profiles of the CEOs Who “Get It” are featured in the February 2015 issue of Safety+Health magazine.

In the magazine, Childers offers the following advice to other leaders whose organizations are at an earlier stage of the journey to safety excellence:
1. Do not underestimate the importance of safety performance. Saving lives, saving limbs and saving families is a high calling.
2. Do not underestimate the cost of poor safety performance. In terms of morale and profitability, it may be the best investment your enterprise will ever make in its people.
3. Be the ambassador, consider it a mission and a missionary journey to help keep every employee safe.

Last year, Exterran was named in the Houston Chronicle’s 2014 list of “Houston’s Leading Companies” and “2014 Top Workplaces.” Exterran also was recognized on Forbes’ 2014 list of “Most Trustworthy Companies” and the “Fortune 1000.”
