Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL) the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that Hanover Compressor Company, a leading provider of outsourced natural gas compression services, gas treating and processing, has selected Oracle9i Database, Oracle9i Application Server, and the Oracle(r) E-Business Suite, all delivered by Oracle Outsourcing, to deploy a global strategy for one common platform supporting its enterprise worldwide. Hanover will replace its legacy systems with the complete Oracle solution in all of its locations in seven countries to help reduce costs, and expects to improve operating efficiencies and decrease the time it takes to close its quarterly books by 80 percent. Hanover employees will have access to information in real-time, eliminating the common business inefficiencies faced by globally distributed organizations.
"Due to the disparate technology structures within our enterprise, managing our company's business practices across multiple countries and languages has been a challenge," said Stephen York, vice president and corporate controller for Hanover. "The complete Oracle technology system will offer real-time information to our employees, helping improve Hanover's global communication initiatives and our overall corporate effectiveness. For example, we expect to reduce our close cycle for internal reporting from 40 to 45 days to three to five days as a direct result of using the Oracle E-Business Suite. This will have a positive effect on both our customer service and our bottom line."
In the last 12 years, Hanover has acquired more than 40 companies, each functioning on different database and application systems. The energy company will replace these platforms with the Oracle solutions to integrate operations in all locations. Every user, from database administrators to human resources employees, can achieve higher levels of productivity with visibility into pertinent information across one common business architecture.
"We evaluated all the tier-one software providers, but none could offer us the single-source functionality and availability we needed to integrate our global business practices," added York. "Oracle was the only company that could prepare Hanover for growth with the technology infrastructure and integrated business applications to help us meet growing customer demand around the world."
Hanover has over 70 locations worldwide, including operations in the United States, England, Australia, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico and Canada. With Oracle software, Hanover expects potentially dramatic improvements in global integration and business efficiencies such as reduced inventory levels and maintenance costs, improved sales channels and customer billing relationships throughout the enterprise.
"The entire enterprise is excited about the potential to share information, streamline processes, and reduce costs while providing the platform for Hanover to support its growth both domestically and internationally," said John Jackson, senior vice president and chief financial officer for Hanover.
Hanover will use both Oracle E-Business Suite Outsourcing and Oracle Technology Outsourcing for the management, support and administration of its software infrastructure. Oracle Outsourcing will allow Hanover to benefit from more rapid support services. Hanover is scheduled to be fully implemented and operational on its Oracle software within 18-24 months.
